Carolina Barros
Bio
Born in Santiago de Chile in 1962,
Designer graduated with Highest Distinction at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She studied Drawing, Watercolor and Engraving Techniques at the same University. She was a teacher at the Professional Institute Duoc PUC, teaching Color Design and Graphic Representation Workshops for a decade. He has attended painting workshops with Benito Rojo, Cristán Abelli and Andrés Baldwin. Recognitions and Awards in Participation in national and international competitions. In his artistic trajectory he has taken part in Collective and Individual Exhibitions. He participated as a Free Artist of Workshop 99 between 2007 and 2010, and in the Annual Tutorial of the Bloc Workshop in 2014.
Residency in Art Print Residence Barcelona in June 2016.
Lives and works in Santiago, Chile.
Statement
In his works he incorporates drawing, painting, photography and engraving, in mixed technique proposals, among which the conjunction between woodcut and painting on canvas predominates. He has addressed everyday themes, especially with respect to the elements related to the experience of food and the table, creating compositions in which he incorporates plates, cutlery, glasses, among others. Subsequently, he has focused on the elaboration of landscapes in which nature dialogues with the urban, pointing to the areas bordering the city and the ways in which it continues its expansion.
