Bio

Mauro Arbiza Fernández (Montevideo, 1968) Uruguayan visual artist. He lives in Paso de los Toros, department of Tacuarembo, where his studio and sculpture workshop are located. In his early days, (in a self-taught way), he ventured into the area of painting. In 2004 he travels to Miami, where he meets the Cuban-American sculptor Manuel Carbonell, who upon seeing his painting invites him to be his disciple. As of 2014 he begins to carry out all his work with carbon fiber (ultra resistant material), used in the bodies of the Formula 1. Arbiza has developed a novel sculptural project called "Floating Sculptures" consisting of a series of sculptures made of fiberglass and finished in boat paint whose main characteristic is that their support is water. In recent years he has held numerous international exhibitions in Canada, China, Spain, the United States, Portugal, South Korea, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Puerto Rico.
